| RODRIGO PUSKAS was born in Budapest, Hungary. When he was seven he began to play the violin under his mother's guidance. At the age of eleven he won First Prize in the Budapest Violin Competition and the same year was admitted to the prestigious Franz Liszt Academy of Music, where he continued his studies with Professor Denes Kovacs, Head of String Department. Rodngo received First Prize in the Budapesti Szemle, the Janos Koncz National Violin Competition and the National Chamber Music Competition. He also worked with the legendary violin virtuoso Ruggiero Ricci and was a prize winner in the Ruggiero Ricci International Master Courses and Competition, Berlin, 1995. He performed in Hungary, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Italy, Holland, Spain, France, Japan and in the USA. He has appeared in concerts and recitals in major festivals and concert halls around the world: for example the Saint Huber Festival in Belgium, Young Artist International in Los Angeles and performed in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
Last year he performed at the prestigious Hall of the Composers Union, in St. Petersburg, Russia. In August, 2001 he was awarded 2 Prize at the Nagano International Music Competition in Japan. Each year Rodrigo performs in a concert series sponsored by the Hungarian Society of Musical Art and the Hungarian National Radio. Rodrigo received his Artist Certificate Degree with Distinguished Meadows Professor Eduard Schmieder at the Meadows School of the Arts, Dallas, where he also earned his Master's degree in 2002. Mr. Pushkas plays an 18th Century Guadagnini violin. | | |
