North Marion Outreach Ministries Howard and Debbie Heath North Marion Outreach Ministries (NMOM) is a non-profit corporation formed in 1995 for the purpose of sharing the Good News of Christ and ministering to the children and families of North Marion County in a holistic manner. NMOM began as an outreach to children led by the Howard Heath family through a summer Vacation Bible School. Originally intended as a "stand-alone" project by the Heaths,, Sparr Bible Club grew, by popular demand, into an after-school Bible Club held at the local elementary school. Twenty-five students grew to almost one hundred and then, by the spring of the first year, it grew to over one hundred and seventy five students. In ensuing years, after-school Bible Clubs formed at the local middle and high schools. Donations of food, household items, furniture, and clothing were collected and distributed. A Christian physician and his wife, a nurse, offered their service for regularly held free medical clinics as well as making home visits to Bible Club families. Depending on the available funds in the ministry, it has been possible to assist with utilities and rental needs, and to provide job search assistance and transportation to families. The Lord takes this small ministry in a variety of directions each year. Always beginning with a willingness to serve, and a "field ripe for harvest", NMOM continues to serve the communities of Anthony, Sparr, Reddick, Orange Lake, Boardman, McIntosh, Lowell, and other areas north of Ocala. One-to-one discipling, friendship evangelism, meeting of physical needs, home visits, daily provision of meals to the elderly, providing prayer intercessors... the list of opportunities provided by the Lord goes on and on. Far from being a glossy brochure affair, NMOM is an outreach of a loving Savior to His needy children who are lost in North Marion County. The day to day activities vary as do support and helpers. Yet, hearts have been won for Jesus. The Black, White, and Hispanic population of our county have had an opportunity to find their God and see that He loves them and will provide for them. The lessons in faithful living and Christian humility have in themselves made the ministry worth our efforts, for the fruits born in the lives of those reached for Jesus count for eternity. "Make every effort to add to your faith... brotherly kindness and love " | |||||||||
